Tip number 1 – Practice with a metronome. You may not realize this, but one of the hardest things to do when playing music is to keep perfect time. Tip number 3 – Make sure your is in tune. Now, I know what you’re thinking. What does it matter? I’m practicing fingering and chord progressions. It doesn’t matter if the is in tune or not. Well, yes it does. The short reason (this gets complex) is that when your fingers learn something, your ear learns it as well. If you’re ear is learning the wrong thing, when the IS in tune, it won’t sound correct to you and believe it or not, you won’t play it as well because your ear and brain are fighting with each other. This is especially true for people with perfect pitch.
